In what can only be described as a stunning 4-tracker, Mr Dubz showcases his versatility as a producer with the Night Funk EP. Kicking off the EP is the title track Night Funk, where synth leads and jazzy keys collide over a bed of bass warmer than the sun. Jam With Me then fuses crisp drums with an evocative vocal and emotive strings. The sub bass underpins the track perfectly and is sure to move the floor. The haunting melodic intro of Lately eases us in and is quickly joined by a perfectly executed amen break. The melancholic vocal ties the track together and is complimented by gorgeous keys and phat analogue-sounding bass. The EP is brought to a close by Depths of The Mire, which takes a darker path than the previous tracks - the evolving bass and tight percussion meet head on for a rip-roaring finale.
