Review: Ray Keith is back on the road with his archive series, in which he digs up old classics and shows us some of the sounds of his past. We can assume that Ray Keith's archives are absolutely enormous, given the sheer amount of time that he's spent producing, curating and releasing music, and the strength of this LP demonstrates that best of all. The eponymously titled 'Dread Sound' shows off what Keith is about - roughshod, rolling reece basses and fractious junglist beats, a basement-worthy sound palette that feels both nostalgic and right up to date. 'Filthy Jazz' is another highlight, as stomping drums come into conflict with funky stabs and melodic notes, a juxtaposition of sounds that works to great effect. Big.
