Style Bass, Jungle, Footwork
Quality MP3 320 kbps
Another crucial double header from prolific NYC bass specialist Kush Jones, this time backed up with strong versions from Manny powerhouse Anz, footwork futurist DJ Manny and Kush's Juke Bounce Werk cohort DJ Noir.
Kush Jones is feeding his city right now - 'Rugrats' and 'Basic Bass' are swift, no-nonsense bangers that exemplify why his name is synonymous with quality. Both feeding into jungle, Kush builds on the basic breaks 'n bass formula with a slippery American sense of timing and funk. 'Basic Bass' particularly lands Kush in a liquid realm with stuttering Omni Trio rolls and slippery PFM/Bukem pads that keep things tite in the outerzone.
Anz's version pushes hard into peak time, touching on a tuff slow breaks tempo and adding a speaker-penetrating bee sting bassline. DJ Manny comes off the wicked "Signals in my Head" album with a weighty, sub-heavy 'Rugrats' version that punches just right, while DJ Noir spikes 'Basic Bass' with some darkside energy.
