It's been a while since we heard from Phil Moffa, the virtuoso New York producer who rose to prominence alongside Levon Vincent and Anthony Parasole. As Second Foundation demonstrates, he remains one of the most talented artists of his generation. "Alma Del Mundo", remixed by Photay, is a frazzled, balmy deep house track. The AceMo interpretation of "Elevation" maintains this aesthetic. Over a frenetic rhythm and insistent percussion, dreamy synths soar hypnotically, making for an acid-filled climax. Alredna's version of "Rolling Boil" pushes in a different direction, with a dense off-beat rhythm fused with jazzy undercurrents. Maintaining this left-of-cente approach is the Zianni Orange take on "Vertigo", where a chattering rhythm is combined with dense textures, making for a cerebral end to the release.
