Review: Since The Darrow Chem Syndicate first arrived on Nipponeer Japan, they have been delivering top quality release after top quality release, with this, the B release of 'Roughside Out' doing more of the same in ultimate fashion with an incredible selection of remixes. The artists involved make this a very exciting prospect right from the off as the likes of Hankook, Huda Hudia & DJ30A and more all get involved for a selection of well thought out reworks, breathing a new lease of life into this already spectacular project. The nature of these remixes allows the project to cover a seriously wide area sonically, from the classic breakbeat grizzle of Rasco's 'The Fred Soul' rework, to the reese-heavy rethink of 'Tervetuloa' by Bad Legs and Perfect Kombo's shuffling overhaul of 'Spank In A Rocker'. Our two standouts have to include the colourful synth-lead re-imagining of 'Get Down' from the Beatslappaz, alongside OnDaMike's ethereal-rework of 'Polar Easterlies'. The whole project is powerful to say the least!

Review: For a long time now, The Darrow Chem Syndicate have been providing us with top quality breakbeat originals, but this time around, courtesy of Nipponeer Japan, we see a new take on the sound with some scintillating remix additions. The lineup is crazy, with the likes of Bad Legs, Kid Panel, DJ Dllect and many more getting involved with this fiery collection. The range of the project is pretty wild, from Hankook & Destroyers turning 'Tervetuloa' into a grizzly roller to Rasco giving 'Bass Ma Tazz' a more melodic overhaul, doused in euphoric synthesizer action. The whole project boasts a very high level of creativity, but the highlights for us would have to include Huda Hudia & DJ30A's intricate electronic rethink of 'Tupolev 95', alongside OnDaMiKe's eastern inspired melodic overhaul of 'La Sambaretta'.

Review: From 'Connected' way back in 2009 to 'Collected' right now in 2021, musical maverick Synkro has always played in a league of his own and sculpted his own unique and disarming sound. Here we find in a reflective mode, looking back over past compositions, but also handing over the controls to like-minded spirits for some serious remix justice. Across the extensive collection you've find the likes of pioneer Paradox giving 'Luminous' a fresh coat of Alaskan paint, Akuratyde adding a whole new set of beat wheels to 'Weakness' and DYL flipping 'Agate' into one of the darkest perspectives Synkro's ever enjoyed. Full flavour, full feels - stay collected.

Last December, Shanghai Doom made their WAKAAN debut with Soul Stone, a joint EP with fellow bass producer Esseks. Now, the experimental bass duo is returning for their first solo WAKAAN project and debut album, Dark Waters. Through eight solo productions and one collaboration with leet, this nine-track record plunges into the sonic depths of the deep unknown.
Haunting, dark, and mysterious, Shanghai Doom effortlessly submerges listeners within the dusky subaqueous ecosystem. Exploring territories only daunting aquanauts dare enter, each song will tantalize eardrums through crisp sound designs and experimental, liquid textures.
- “Although part of our own planet, the deep sea feels like an alien planet within itself. The creatures below are both menacing and beautiful. The scariest part is, not all of them have been discovered yet.”
—Shanghai Doom on “Deep Sea Creatures”
